About
Many aspects of the human condition intrigue me but it became personal for me when my grandmother was in hospice with stage IV cancer. The hospice staff was so kind and compassionate and I knew I wanted to lend that same kind of support to patients in need. My grandmother was the center of our family, and I’ve always tried to get to know my patients as people, and understand the impact they have on their communities and those who know them. Each person is unique, and each person leaves a legacy.
One of the reasons I chose family practice is so I could get to know my patients throughout their lives, not just during one or two health issues. I’m also passionate about prevention, and when possible, try to intervene in the disease process before patients need intensive resources like hospital stays or surgeries.
My patients tell me I really take the time to listen, and try to come up with a realistic, achievable plan to help them meet their health goals. I have a special interest in precision medicine which takes into account each person’s specific genes, environment and lifestyle and creates a health plan tailored specifically to meet their needs. I also believe that health is about more than just physical well-being, but must also include mental, emotional and social well-being.
In my spare time, I enjoy painting, drawing, hiking, traveling, and supporting live music. I also spend time staying up-to-date on recent medical articles and advancements.
