About
I've always been passionate about making a difference in the world. So, when it came time to choose a career, my father encouraged me to go into medicine. I loved my time in medical school, and during my 4th year, the field of cardiology became my instant fascination. Being a cardiologist allows me to have an immediate impact on my patients' lives; being able to save a patient's life during a heart attack is immensely gratifying.
Being an interventional cardiologist for more than ten years, I have seen and diagnosed a myriad of complex cardiovascular diseases. Over the years, I have developed a niche in performing highly complex coronary interventions. I even received special training in limb salvage - a large part of my practice includes treating patients with peripheral vascular disease. I often treat patients with very advanced cardiac disease who have complex needs, and I enjoy being able to help them when others can't.
I prefer to take a holistic approach when treating my cardiology patients, and I always strived to provide my patients with the best medical care possible. Though I see most of my patients very late in the game, I am a firm believer in prevention. So, lifestyle modification has become one of the three pillars of my patient care strategy.
My patients tell me they feel like family when they enter my office. I like to spend time with each patient and strive to help them really understand their diagnosis and their treatment options. Carefully explaining the exact prognosis, plan of care, and long-term implications to my patients and their family members is an integral part of my practice. I believe having everyone on the same page allows for better medical outcomes.
Outside of work, I am a long-distance runner and cyclist. I've run four out of the six major world marathons, and my goal is to finish the rest of them in the near future. I enjoy spending time outdoors, hiking, and playing cricket and tennis. I am also involved in local and international charity work.
