About
I started to dream of becoming a doctor while I was still in middle school. There were many doctors in our family, and I saw their passion for treating patients. My dad was a family physician, and he was the best doctor in our rural farming town – patients loved him, and he was busy at all hours. Some patients, if they didn’t have money, would pay him in vegetables. It was wonderful to see the satisfaction he got from caring for people.
Once I began my medical training, I discovered my passion for thoracic surgery. My uncle was a cardiothoracic surgeon, so anytime I’d go to his hospital in the city, they would allow me to observe surgeries. My mother had open-heart surgery when I was in medical school, which gave me even more of an interest in the workings of this area of the body.
I perform many minimally invasive thoracic surgical procedures – robotic and thoracoscopic. Most of my patients suffer from lung and esophageal cancer or hiatal hernia, and I find these types of procedures allow them to recover and return to their lifestyles more quickly than traditional, open surgeries.
I strive to treat all my patients with the utmost care, respect, and patience. I feel that listening to the patient is essential to building trust and delivering optimal care.
Outside of work, my wife and I enjoy traveling, hiking, biking, tennis and watching cricket.
