About
Education
- Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies, University of Texas Medical Branch, Galveston, TX
I chose to specialize in orthopedic care because I enjoyed the world of sports medicine. There, I became familiar with ACL reconstruction and fracture care, among many other treatments for acute injuries and issues. In orthopedic surgery, I’m able to help implement strategies that can improve and relieve short-term and long-term problems, and that’s very satisfying.
I strive to take the patient, as a whole person, into account – and to listen carefully. I believe in providing trustworthy education to patients and answering any and all questions they bring to me about their condition as well as care and treatment plan options.
I also believe in shared decision-making – not in saying to someone, “This is the only option for you.” I want patients to feel confident enough to tell me what they want and don’t want – as well as what their goals are for their own health and activity level. It’s amazing to watch someone enjoy a full recovery.
When I’m not with patients, I enjoy hiking and camping with my husband and dogs, playing volleyball, reading and going to book club.
