About
Education
- Master of Physician Assistant Studies: Bethel University, Paris, TN
I began my medical career as a patient care trauma technician, helping people who had been badly injured recover as fully as possible. I loved the work, but wanted more responsibility – I knew that with the right skills, I could serve patients far more effectively.
In neurosurgery, the right care can make a profoundly positive difference in someone’s overall quality of life. For example, when back pain is treated successfully, patients not only experience pain relief – they can also start, or return to, doing things they love.
I strive to build relationships with my patients by slowing down, giving them my full attention, and listening just a little longer. When people are in a great deal of pain, compassion is very important. I rarely encounter a patient who doesn’t want me to explain more about why we’re doing what we’re doing in terms of their treatment plan – or who doesn’t want me to walk them through all their options.
When I’m not with patients, I enjoy hiking, traveling, swimming and other outdoor activities. I’m also a foodie, and I watch a lot of movies.
