About
I specialize in colorectal surgery because I love the wide range of conditions it allows us to treat – and often cure – from fissures and hemorrhoids to fistulas and cancer. With tools like the surgical robot, we can approach these issues with incredible precision and often provide long-term solutions. I don’t want any patient to be a repeat customer in five years. I’m always happy to be able to say, “We’re done. The next time I see you, it’ll be at the grocery store.”
My approach to patient care centers on active listening. People are sometimes embarrassed about what’s going on with them “down there,” but I remind them that this is literally my job – and whatever the problem may be, they are not alone. Patients often tell me my sense of humor and welcoming attitude help them feel more at ease.
Helping patients is why I chose colorectal surgery. I believe in identifying the root cause of anorectal complaints and treating the cause and symptoms. My greatest passion will always be for my cancer patients – I want them to leave our visits feeling hopeful and empowered, with a clear understanding of what’s going on and a treatment plan they can trust.
When I’m not in the OR or clinic, you’ll find me out for a run, at a yoga class, hiking a trail, reading along with one of my many book clubs or at home wrangling my Great Dane and two cats.
