About
Education
- Master of Science in Nursing (With Distinction); Northern Arizona University, Flagstaff, AZ
As a board-certified nurse practitioner and lifelong resident of Tucson, I am dedicated to caring for our local community. I chose to specialize in the medical and surgical treatment of obesity partly because I was once a bariatrics patient – so I understand each step of the process on a personal level. My surgery was successful, but I did face some challenges along the way, so I am able to empathize with, care for and encourage people on their weight loss and surgical journeys.
My approach to care is grounded in compassion, clinical excellence and a deep understanding of the challenges faced by individuals seeking sustainable good health as they address obesity and the issues it causes. I strive to find out exactly what people are struggling with, and to help patients understand that obesity is a treatable and manageable disease, not a personal failing or a permanent state.
My patients say I’m personable, friendly and open-minded – and that I love to educate and align my advice with the other experts on the bariatrics team. I’m often able to suggest ideas for small dietary or activity changes that help make a difference.
When I’m not with patients, I enjoy baking French macarons, hiking the scenic Catalina Foothills, and spending time with my husband, two children and two cats.
