Biography
Dr. Thomas Waliser is a board-certified gynecologist who specializes in minimally invasive gynecological surgery. He focuses on gynecology only, including well woman exams and preventative care. He is particularly interested in treating fibroids and menstrual irregularities, and in performing the following procedures --- laparoscopic hysterectomy, myomectomy, ovarian cystectomy, incisionless sterilization and robotic hysterectomy.
He believes that the benefits of minimally invasive surgery for a patient --- less pain, less scarring and a quicker recovery --- outweigh traditional open surgery in almost all gynecological cases. But, Dr. Waliser knows that each patient is responsible for her own body and the final treatment decision. He enjoys spending time with his patients and views himself as a guide through the diagnosis and treatment process, providing information, options and recommendations.
He discovered his passion for medicine at a young age, always enjoying visits to the doctor's office because of the opportunity to learn about the instruments in the exam room. Prior to attending medical school, Dr. Waliser spent the first nine years of his healthcare career as a surgical technologist, first with the United States Navy and then with hospitals in Phoenix and Tucson.
