Dr. Leila Wing was raised in Colorado Springs, Colorado and attended the University of Colorado in Boulder where she received a Bachelor’s degree with distinction in Biochemistry. She attended medical school at Wayne State University School of Medicine in Detroit, Michigan, also graduating with distinction.
During medical school, Dr. Wing was elected into the Medical Honor Society Alpha Omega Alpha. She completed her training in Internal Medicine at the University of Arizona in Tucson as well as an additional Chief Residency year and her Fellowship sub-specialty training in Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism.
Dr. Wing chose Endocrinology because it is a broad sub-specialty of Internal Medicine and it encompasses all organ systems. She finds treating complex diseases very rewarding. Her philosophy is to listen carefully and compassionately to patients and to be a partner in their healthcare. Her interests include diabetes management and thyroid disease. She sees adults of all ages.
When not working, Dr. Wing enjoys spending time with her family, including one daughter. She also enjoys traveling and reading. Dr. Wing has played the violin with a number of different orchestras.
